Dear All who can give genuine advise my Persian cat just delivered 4 kittens ?
All day she was looking for attention, kissed the small Japanese dog I have, the other Persian cat and was around me all day, however, I did not realized that she was ready to give birth specially as the vet told me it will not happened for another 3 weeks. Anyhow here it is under a small telephone stand with some magazines she had decided to give birth … 4 as it seems healthy Kitten one dead one which I removed and as the place is so small and is full of water, blood I can see some other which believe is a dead kitten but all the kittens and the Cats are there and in order to remove it I have to move them … what shall I do…
Am I am right to leave it for tonight and when the main stress is over start to do so or what would be the right thing… for me to clean the area means defiantly to move them temporally …
I have made some boxes covered a huge blanket over the stand so she can relax, my other Cut is going crazy hearing the babies but unable to see them Thanks
I HAVE BEEN THE MIDWIFE FOR MANY CATS…. if your cat is friendly then she shouldn’t have any problem with you touching or moving the kittens for a little bit. if your not sure if it is a dead kitten it could also be the after birth that would have been on the opposite side of the embilical cord….every kitten would have them…. the mother usually eats them but sometimes they don’t its a big red sac type thing that would be around the same size of a kitten….. it would look almost like an organ…. if you are able to pick up a kitten without the mother getting mad then it should be fine to move them and you could even take one of the kittens, hold it in your hand and just let the other cat smell it so he/she will know what it is and maybe calm down a little… i hope i was of some help and good luck with your little babies!!!
