When will the Turkish re-intepretation of the hadiths be finalised and made public?
I’m looking forward to it. No doubt it’ll relieve some Muslims’ minds when some of the nonsense is taken out or clarified like that women can’t ride camels for more than 3 days, but the criticism from some fundamentalists will also be interesting too though I don’t think it’ll lead to violence.
What is the point of re-inventing the wheel?
The Hadiths are there for all to see and read, so why do they need re-interpretation, unless it is to falsify their meaning.
But I do question the questioners remark of ‘some fundamentalists’. I am a fundamentalist, in that I want to live my life according to my faith, in peace and harmony with all those around me. This is my fundamental right to do so, which is no different to a Jew or Christian or any follower of any other faith. However, I do not want their faith pushed down my throat as being the only truth or path to the truth.
The Turks can re-invent the Hadith’s but if they move away from the basic precepts of Islam, then they are lost, together with anyone who follows them. But who are these Turks? Did they not forbid women from wearing the Hijab but have now done a trun around?
There are Muslims, Muslims who follow the wrong path and non-believers.
Lastly I would like to pick up on the questioners statement of ‘nonsense is taken out’. Now nobody said that all things within the Hadith is perfect and I certainly do not go along with weak hadith, or any hadith that has a broken chain, or any hadith which is not clearly attributed to the Prophet (pbuh). If you think that there is nonsense within the hadith, then maybe it is not the hadith but your faith that you should question.
