What would be good to cover basement block walls if you’re unable to transport long pieces of materials?
I have a full basement in a 60-yr-old brick house that is very sturdily built. The walls down there are cement block, and the area is well waterproofed, no moisture or cracking of block issues. I want to make one small area at the bottom of the stairs into a playroom for my kids, using minimal materials until we’re ready to finiish the whole basement completely. They want a retro 70′s theme. There are two high windows, and the space is about 12′ square. I’m planning to just put a thick remnant rug onto the floor for now, but also need to create some sort of easily movable (possibly suspended) divider between the space and my laundry space nearby. Any suggestions? I was thinking about just some curtains or drapes, but maybe something else would work and look better. As for the walls, should I just paint them and cover with lots of posters? If I do paint, is a special type recommended for such applications? My objective is to make it a bright and inviting space on a shoestring budget.
we did they same thing when i was younger to my dads house…..we painted the walls…..took masking tape and taped off lines and designes and it turned out great….u can do some wall hangings….shoot, pop up a strobe light and a disco ball and ur there….

My wife and I have a 5′ X 7′ area rug which we want to dye brown. It’s a deep pile wool rug and the fibers are dense. How does one go about this? We would have it done professionally but there are no skilled people where we live. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
you’ll need a dye formulated for protien fibers, a fixative, woolite soap and a very big trough to run it through. depending on how its been dyed alady it might be cheaper to buy a new rug. Most spinning and weaving shops carry the dye, or you can get it onne from dharmatrading.com. honestly though i’d get a small bottle and test a corner before investing in a whole rug, cause the chemicals to do dark colors like this can get seriously expensive since it can take two or three dips to do it. good luck!
