Where can I get an affordable area rug?
Anything close to 8′ x 11′ costs around $400+, is that typical?
I checked a lot of places online + home depot, walmart, ross, and they either don’t have the larger ones or they’re really expensive.
Any recommendations on this?
have you tried Kohl’s they seem to have some big ones. I’m not sure if it’s 11 feet, but I think they are around 8 feet long though and they cost around 100

Help please: What kind of carpet (material type) would be good for a high traffic living room?
I want to put an area rug in my living room but want to know what the best type to get is (one that I can clean pretty easily). Unluckily the front door opens right into the living room (theres no foyer or anything) and I have all wooden floors so wet shoes get tracked inside pretty easily. I have a small mat inside and out the door to try to catch some of the wetness but it doesnt catch all of it. I know whatever area rug I put down will get stuff tracked on it pretty easily so I want to know what the easiest kind to clean is.

Decorating my new apartment?
My seating furniture will be white/slightly off-white, the coffee and end tables are espresso/black and I have a large print of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”. I don’t know whether or not I’ll add an area rug but the living/dining room floor is made of cheap, wooden parquet flooring (honey brown coloured – where it isn’t scratched). I would really appreciate any decorating ideas that you have. I am overwhelmed with all of the options that are out there. I know what I like to see it when it’s put together but I need some assistance to put it together. Thank you in advance!

Sounds like you have a nice start to your room! I would definitely put in an area rug. They help to anchor the space plus add color and warmth to the room! Use your picture as your inspiration for the remainder of the room . The print seems to lean toward a more contemporary look.
A patterned carpet in dark blue or blues/black would be a good choice for the area rug. A darker carpet will keep your light furniture from “floating”. For your accessories….pull out other colors from the picture. You’ve got wonderful colors to choose from. Looking at the picture on the internet it looks like the yellow is strong. But you decide if it’s the yellow or the green that is more predominant. Choose a large flat ceramic dish (in one of the picture’s accent color) for the center of your coffee table and add something organic to it. Add candles and/or vases to your tables . Try an ebony candle sconce on the wall to tie it back to your end tables.
You didn’t mention lamps but I found this lamp on the home decorator’s website. It is leather offset by the brushed nickel base with a cream shade that would blend with your sofas. They have a nice collection of rugs as well. There are several to choose from that I think would work. The key to good design is to repeat your elements around the room. Good luck to you.
