Google isn’t helping me with this question – maybe you can? I am trying to find Mission/Arts & Crafts/etc. tablecloths, table runners, bedspreads, etc. Repros, not actual antiques. I haven’t come across anything on the internet that fits this description except sites that sell Nouveau lace and Nouveau fabric (for EIGHTY DOLLARS a yard, I might add)!

A rug is to fit in a room so that a border of even width is left on all four sides. If the room is 16 feet by 24 feet and the area of the rug is 153 square feet, how wide will the border be?
The ration of length to width for the room is 3:2 (24:16)
For the rug to have the same border all the way around it much have the same ratio in it’s dimensions
3x:2x
The area of this is thus 3x * 2X or 6xx (6 x squared) = 153 ft2
Dividing across by 6
25.5 = x2
x = 5.05
So the dimensions of the rug are 15.15 x 10.10 feet
The room is 24 feet long and the rug is 15.15 feet long, thus there is 8.85 feet of exposed floor. The border is then half this value – there will be a border at the top and the bottom – 4.425 feet
